Artikel 1

1. The Contracting Parties shall develop the co-operation of their respective veterinary services concerning the importation, exportation and transit of live animals, animal-derived products including raw materials and feedstuffs in order to prevent the possibility of introducing infectious diseases from the territory of one of the Contracting Parties into the territory of the other Contracting Party.

2. The importation, exportation and transit of live animals, animalderived products including raw materials and feedstuffs will take place only after obtaining the approval of the respective veterinary services of the Contracting Parties.

Artikel 2

The competent central organs of the Contracting Parties shall, should they view it as proper and necessary, determine the veterinary and health conditions concerning the importation, exportation and transit of live animals as well as animal-derived products including raw materials and feedstuffs from the territory of one of the Contracting Parties on or through the territory of the other Contracting Party.

Artikel 3

The proper veterinary authorities of the Contracting Parties shall systematically exchange veterinary bulletins listing statistical data on notifiable diseases of animals and shall provide each other with publications and information of veterinary nature which can be of interest to the two Contracting Parties.

A list of notifiable diseases shall be fixed by the proper veterinary authorities of the Contracting Parties and may be changed with the consent of both authorities.

Artikel 4

1.

The Contracting Parties shall support:

a. a. co-operation between the proper veterinary authorities, veterinary institutions and the professional veterinary associations of the two states; b. b. the exchange of proper representatives and specialists in the veterinary sphere of the two Contracting Parties in order to find out about the veterinary situation of animal husbandry and exchange of experience in practical, scientific and technical veterinary fields of each of the states.

2. Programmes of visits, meetings and exchange of proper representatives and specialists in the veterinary sphere as well as the plans of co-operation on given subjects in given time spans shall be in each case agreed between the proper bodies of the two Contracting Parties.

3. The costs resulting from the application of this Article are for the account of the state which in its own interest sends out its representatives and specialists in the veterinary sphere.

Artikel 5

1. All questions resulting from the implementation of this Convention shall be considered by a mixed committee.

2. The committee shall consist of three members of each of the Contracting Parties of whom at least two should be veterinary physicians employed by the proper veterinary authorities.

3. The representatives shall meet alternately at The Hague and at Warsaw at times to be determined in each case when both Contracting Parties recognise this as necessary and in any case at least once every two years.

4. Conflicts as to which no agreement was reached by representatives of both Contracting Parties shall be settled through diplomatic channels.

Artikel 6

This Convention is without prejudice to the rights and duties of the Contracting Parties resulting from other international agreements and with respect to the Kingdom of the Netherlands applies only to the Kingdom in Europe.

Artikel 7

1. This Convention shall enter into force on the date on which the Contracting Parties have notified each other that their required constitutional procedures have been complied.

2. This Convention shall remain in force for an undetermined time and expires after six months from the day on which one of the Contracting Parties gives the other Contracting Party notice of cancellation.
